Parentage: P. cathayana x P. cathayana. First bloom unknown, first propagated 2022. Early blooming SINGLE to SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are reddish-pink, 15 cm (6.75”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are ruffled, notched, and are typically 8 cm (3.14”) in width. Purple flares with sharp edges emanate from flower center and transcend approximately 25% of overall petal length. Fragrant. On average, flowers carry five yellowish-green, moderately hairy carpels. Stigmas are reddish-purple, and of normal anatomy. Stamens are more than 2 cm (0.75”) in length, with reddish-purple filaments that fade to white at the tips. Sheath is complete; reddish-purple in color. Fertile both ways. Plants reach 70 cm (27.5”) at maturity, and carry broadly-cut, green foliage. Growth habit is upright. Name romanized is Dān jīng mídié, roughly translating to “sparkling butterfly”.
