Peony Registry

Seedling number: RAHS 43. Parentage unknown. First bloomed 2015, first propagated 2015. Early midseason blooming SINGLE to SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are burgundy-red, 14 cm (5.5”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are cupped, rounded, and are typically 2.5 cm (1.5”) in width. No fragrance noted. Three tomentose carpels are green, and carry pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are less than 1.25 cm (0.5”) in length, with filaments that are pink transitioning to yellow at the tips. Produces pollen; seed fertility has not been noted to date. Disk is apparent with few projections; pale-pink in color. Leaflets are broad-pointed, and green in color. Plants reach 81.25 cm (32”) at maturity. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary.
