Angelic Lilac
Back to RegistrySeedling number: 9-25D. Parentage: Seedling SG16 x ‘May Lilac’. First bloomed 2019, first propagated 2019. Early midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are lavender, 12.7 cm (5.5”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are cupped, rounded, ruffled, notched, and are typically 5 cm (2”) in width. Subtle fragrance. Three tomentose carpels are light-green, and carry pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are less than 1.25 cm (0.5”) in length, with lavender filaments that transition to white at the tips. Produces pollen; seed fertility has not been noted. Staminodes are linear and oblanceolate in structure, and identical in color to the surrounding petalage. Disk is apparent with few projections, and is white in color. Leaflets are broad-pointed, and green in color. Plants reach 81.25 cm (32”) at maturity. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary.
