Back to RegistryParentage unknown. First bloomed 2012, first propagated 2014. Early blooming BOMB flowers are light reddish purple, with darker purplish-red coloration in the interior. Flowers are 17.75 cm (7”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are flat, and are typically 8 cm (3.15”) in width. Fragrant. Four sparsely hairy carpels are light yellow-green in color, and carry strong purplish-red stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are more than 2 cm (0.75”) in length, with filaments deep purplish-pink in color that transition to very pale purple at the tips; no pollen. Staminodes are of various shape, and are deep purplish-red at the base, fading to purplish-pink at the tips. Sheath is complete, and vivid reddish-orange in color. No fertility has been noted. Plants reach about 50 cm (19.7”) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, green foliage. Foliage at the time of emergence is a dark red. Growth habit is spreading. Stems are hardy, and not easily damaged by wind.
