Back to RegistryFirst bloomed 2021, first propagated 2024. Midseason blooming BOMB flowers are light pink, Flowers are 13 cm (5”) in diameter, upward facing, and average two per stem. Guard petals are flat, notched, and typically 6 cm (2.5”) in width. Slight fragrance noted. On average, flowers possess four moderately hairy carpels that are purple-red in color, with purple-red stigmas of normal anatomy. Linear staminodes are pink-yellow in color. No pollen; seed fertility has not been noted. Plants reach 65 cm (25.5”) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, green foliage. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. A fine ornamental cultivar suitable for the garden. The petalized structures form a ball-shape that gives the impression of a popcorn ball. It is hoped that the name “Bao-Mi Hua” (popcorn), will convey its appearance, interest, and uniqueness, and that the flower will be distinctive, even in its name.
