Seedling number AT#5. Parentage: Seidl #32 x ‘Cheerful Charlie’. First bloomed 2014, first propagated 2017. Previously distributed under the name “Cheerful Glow”. Early blooming SINGLE flowers are creamy pink overlaid in yellow. Flowers are 17.75 cm (7″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one to two per stem. Red flares with blurred edges radiate from flower center and transcend approximately 30% of overall petal length. Fragrant. Guard petals are rounded, ruffled, notched, and are typically 9 cm (3.5”) in width. On average, flowers possess five sparsely hairy, light-green carpels. Stigmas are medium pink, and of feathered anatomy. Stamens are more than 2 cm (0.75”) in length. Filaments are maroon, transitioning to dark red at their tips. Produces pollen; seed fertility has not been noted. Sheath is complete, and maroon in color. Plants reach about 122 cm (48″) at maturity, and carry broadly cut, grey-green foliage with purple margins. A creamy warm pink bloom with slightly darker petal edges and a deep throat of maroon that does emanate a cheerful glow in the garden. Grown from seed received from Bill Seidl.
