Country Fairy
Back to RegistryParentage: ‘Minnie Shaylor’ x ‘Sarah Bernhardt’. First bloomed 2023, first propagated 2023. Midseason blooming SINGLE to SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are lilac colored, 12 cm (4.7”) in diameter, upward facing, and average three per stem. Guard petals are notched, curled, and pointed, and average 2 cm (0.75”) in width. Fragrant. Five sparsely hairy carpels are yellowish-green in color, with purplish-red stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2 cm (0.5-0.75”) in length, with filaments that are uniformly yellow in color. Plants reach 90 cm (35.5”) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, green foliage. Foliage at the time of emergence is reddish-green. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for the flower form and color; the light lilac-purple petals bouncing in the sunlight are as sprightly and lovely as fairy. The word “country” comes from the name of the registrants’ partner company, and cultivars bred in conjunction with this entity will be part of a “country” series.
