Parentage unknown. First bloomed 2019, first propagated 2021. Early blooming SINGLE flowers are a strong purplish-red color fading to a pale purplish-pink at petal margins. Flowers are 18.5 cm (7.28”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are flat, and are typically 7 cm (2.8”) in width. Fragrance noted. Five tomentose, pale yellow-green carpels carry purplish-red stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are more than 2 cm (0.75”) in length. Fertile both ways. Sheath is complete, and a moderate reddish-orange in color. Plants reach about 90 cm (35.4”) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, yellow-green foliage. Growth habit is upright. Grafts easily, and stems are hardy and elegant in appearance. Elegant colors, flower patterns, and good seed production make this tree peony both ornamental and edible.
