Seedling number TP2 54-29. Parentage: ‘Old Faithful’ x Simmons #32-142 (‘The Mackinac Grand’ x “m.s.b”). First bloomed 2015, first propagated 2017. Late season blooming DOUBLE flowers are bright crimson colored; slightly darker upon opening than ‘Christmas Velvet’ or ‘Henry Bockstoce’. Flowers are 15 cm (6”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are flat, slightly recurved, rounded, and are typically 6 cm (2.4”) in width. No fragrance. Three moderately hairy carpels are very light-green in color. Stigmas are very light pink, and of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2 cm (0.5-0.75”) in length, with filaments that are yellow flushed with red in color. Pollen fertile, and occasionally produces seed. Disk is obscure. Leaflets are broad-pointed, and green in color. Plants reach 85 cm (33.5”) at maturity. Growth habit is narrow-upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. While flowers are only medium sized, the cultivar is very strong, productive, and especially healthy making it well-suited for both cutting and the landscape.
