Parentage unknown. First bloomed 2016, first propagated 2019. Late blooming BOMB flowers are purple (RHS N74C), with slightly cupped and notched guard petals that average 7.5cm (3”) in width. Flowers are 16.5cm (6.5”) in diameter, with a height of 13.5cm (5.3”), upward and outward facing, and average one per stem. Strong fragrance noted. Five moderately hairy, green carpels with pink stigmas are present. Sheath is partial, and purple-red in color. Plants reach 83cm (32.5”) at maturity, and carry broadly pointed, green foliage. Growth habit is upright. The peony is known as the “national color and heavenly fragrance”; this variety has large and colorful flowers, graceful and luxurious, magnificent and rich in fragrance. It can be called a treasure among flowers, hence the name ‘Guo Se Zhen Pin’.
