Seedling Number MD202002-02. Parentage ‘Feng Dan Bai’ x ‘Jitsugetsunishiki’. First bloomed 2018, first propagated 2020. Early-midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are pink with a rose-red halo at the base. Flowers are 15cm (5.9″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are flat, frilled, notched, and twisted, and are typically 6cm (2.4”) in diameter. Fragrance noted. Flowers on average possess eight tomentose carpels that are a greenish-yellow, with purplish-pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are less than 1.2cm (0.5″) in length; filaments purplish-pink in color at base, white near tips. Fertile both ways. Sheath is partial, purple in color. Plants reach about 85cm (33.5″) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed yellow-green foliage. Growth habit is upright. The pale pink flowers in full bloom resemble the appearance of a young girl, hence the name ‘He Zhi Chu Yan’.
