Early-midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are reddish-purple, 15 cm (5.9”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are flat, notched, and are typically 5 cm (2”) in width. Inner petals are twisted; some spatulate staminodes. Fragrance noted. On average, flowers carry five sparsely hairy, greenish-yellow carpels. Stigmas are reddish-purple, and of both normal and feathered anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2 cm (0.5-0.75”) in length, with reddish-purple filaments. Sheath is partial, lilac in color. Fertile both ways. Plants reach 90 cm (35.5”) at maturity, and carry broad-blunt, green foliage. Foliage at the time of emergence is reddish-green. Growth habit is upright. Named for the semi-double flower form, with many narrow petals in the center, and the place of cultivation, Heze.
