Parentage unknown. First bloomed 2020, first propagated 2021. Previously distributed under seedling number. Very late blooming DOUBLE flowers are of interesting structure; tri-colored, there is a layer of white, a secondary layer of celadon, and an upper layer of white yet again. The petals of the middle and top layers are fancifully edged with red. Buds appear like tissue paper arranged in a bag. Initially, they are dark pink with green exteriors, developing very slowly, and thereby the flowering period is extended, hence the name “mysterious cup”. Flowers are typically 10 cm (4”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one to three per stem. Guard petals are celadon in color, cupped, rounded, slightly wavy, and average 5 cm (2”) in width. No fragrance. Reproductive structures are fully transformed to petalage, thus, no fertility noted. Plants reach 90 cm (35.5”) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, green foliage. Foliage at the time of emergence is green with reddish-brown tips. Growth habit is narrow-upright; mechanical support is unnecessary.
