Increases slowly, shinning reddish foliage until bloom time. Obsidian has the darkest red of a lactiflora hybrid we have ever seen. According to the color charts of Royal Horticulture Society, Code No. 187A stems and carpels of the same red underline the beauty of the flower. Obsidian name alludes to black volcanic glass.
