Parentage: ‘Garden Sunshine’ x ‘KC Red’. First bloomed 2010, first propagated 2015. Early-midseason blooming SINGLE flowers with two rows of petals are a light red-pink upon opening, with the outer third fading to a very light red-pink where a fine purple veining is evident, radiating from the blurring edge of dark purple flares. Petals have great substance, are notched with rounded edges, and sometimes they appear as divided portions by a purple band. The center of the flowers is outlined by the dark red-pink base of the petals and the red-purple bleeding flares that encircle the central tuft of yellow stamens. Flowers overall are 14 cm (5.5″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. No fragrance noted. On average, flowers possess four to five sparsely hairy, apple-green carpels with purple-red stigmas edged with white, and of normal anatomy. Filaments are purple, transitioning to white at their tips. Fertile both ways. Sheath is complete, and dark purple in color. Plants reach about 120 cm (47.25″) at maturity, and carry broad-pointed, green foliage with a subtle purple margin. Growth habit is spreading; plants are healthy and the flower carriage is good, upfacing, with no laterals. Named for its color and its early flowering season among lutea hybrids.
