Back to RegistryParentage: yellow-flowering plant sent to Irene Tolomeo by Galen Burrell as P. potaninii trollioides, pollinated by single red suffruticosa seedling. First bloomed 2006, propagated since 2015. Material for propagation and evaluation received from Kirstin Tolomeo. Delightful double up-facing flowers with nice heart-shaped ruffled petals appear as a big ball of petals and average 4-5 inches (10-13 cm). Bright orange-pink when first opening, and lightens with an infusion of yellow and pink-red etching on petal ends as bloom matures. One flower per stem. Fragrance. Dark pink flares extend roughly ⅓ petals’ length. Average of 4 carpels, smooth, green, with pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Pollen-bearing stamens; filaments pink at the base and white at the tips. Fertility not yet explored. Partial sheath, white. Upright and spreading growth habit reaching 3 feet (90 cm) tall by 4 feet (120 cm) wide. Yellow-green foliage with long narrow pointed leaflets with purple margins on young leaves. Foliage stays lush green through late autumn. Named by Irene for one of her granddaughters.
