Early blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are deep purplish-pink, 20 cm (8”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Deep purplish-red flares emanate from flower center and transcend approximately 32% of total petal length. Guard petals are flat, and are typically 8.9 cm (3.5”) in width. Fragrant. Eight moderately hairy carpels are light yellow-green in color, and carry dark-red stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2 cm (0.5-0.75”) in length, with filaments deep purplish-red in color that transition to very white at the tips. Some stamens are partially petalized, and are deep purplish-pink in color. Sheath is complete, and deep purplish-pink in color. Produces pollen; no seed fertility noted. Plants reach about 60 cm (23.6”) at maturity, and carry broad-blunt, yellow-green foliage. Foliage at the time of emergence is moderately reddish-brown. Growth habit is upright. Stems are hardy, and not easily damaged by wind. Grafts easily.
