Roger’s Scarlet

Early-midseason blooming SINGLE flowers are scarlet red, 14 cm (5.5”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are cupped, rounded, occasionally notched, and are typically 5 cm (2”) in width. No fragrance. Carpels are three in number, tomentose, and green in color. Stigmas are pink, and of normal anatomy. Stamens are less than 1.25 cm (0.5”) in length, with filaments that are uniformly yellow in color. Produces pollen; seed fertility has not been noted. Disk is apparent with few projections, and is pale-pink in color. Leaflets are narrow-pointed, and green in color. Plants reach 71 cm (28”) at maturity. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary.
