Seedling number: SS2016-1. Parentage: “Fen Ling Hong Hua” x “Zhong Sheng Fen”. First bloomed 2016, first propagated 2018. Midseason blooming DOUBLE flowers are light pink, 18 cm (7”) in diameter, upward facing, and average five per stem. Guard petals are rounded. No fragrance noted. On average, flowers carry four moderately hairy, yellow carpels with pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens transformed to needle-like, oblanceolate petalodes, identical in color to the surrounding petalage. No fertility noted. Disk is obscure. Plants carry narrow-pointed, green foliage. Foliage at the time of emergence is fuchsia. Growth habit is spreading, though mechanical support is unnecessary. Flowers open in a regular pattern, exhibiting a graceful and elegant demeanor. “Sheng Shi Jiao Rong” in Chinese culture signifies extolling someone’s extraordinarily beautiful appearance. “Sheng Shi” implies prosperity and vitality, also deriving from the name of the registrants’ plantation base.
