Tarantella
Back to RegistrySeedling TT5. Parentage: Raised from open polliated mixed Gansu Mudan seeds. First bloomed 2012. First propagated 2016. SEMI-DOUBLE. One flower per stem, 16 cm (6¼”) in size. Cupped pink petals with white at the base, the white extending up both sides of the flares. Black flares extend one quarter of petal’s length and have bleeding edges. Carpels white, moderately hairy, 5-11 in number. Stigmas white, normal anatomy. Pollen-bearing stamens, filaments white throughout. Sheath white complete. Fragrance. Blooms early/mid-season. Typical Gansu Mudan foliage of good substance. Spreading upright growth habit to 100 cm (40″). When Tarantella first bloomed it reminded the originators of an Italian round-about dance. The dark flares, sharply surrounded by white gave it a festive and joyful appearance. To be propagated and distributed by W. Giessler, Gross-Rosenburg, Germany.
