Seedling #NB-H23. Parentage: ‘Manitowoc Maiden’ x NB-H2 (which is ‘Little Corporal’ x ‘Salmon Dream’). First bloomed 2007, propagated since 2010. Advanced generation herbaceous hybrid. Large 7-8 inch (18-20 cm), double, bright deep pink flowers with petals that twist and turn. Light green carpels, pink stigmas and yellow filaments. Center of flower normally obscured. Fertile both ways. Stem strength is very good and does not require mechanical support. Foliage is dark green and typical of herbaceous hybrids. Height is 35 inches (89 cm). Upright to spreading growth habit. Week 4-5 bloom time. Named for the largest of Neptune’s natural satellites, which in turn was named for the Greek mythological messenger king of the sea.
