Pavel Sekerka, Prague Botanical Garden, Czech Republic — Parentage unknown. First bloomed 2007, first propagated 2010. Previously distributed as (Trojan) S10, and as “Trojan Gypsy Princess”. SINGLE flowers are reddish-purple, 24cm (9.5”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Dark red flares emanate from flower center and transcend approximately 33% of petal length; a similar white coloration can be found on the petal reverse. Guard petals are flat, ruffled, and are typically 9cm (3.5”) in width. Fragrant. On average, flowers possess five sparsely hairy carpels that are yellow-green in color. Stigmas are reddish-purple with a faint, thin yellow-orange stripe at the top, and are of normal anatomy. Stamens are more than 2cm (0.75”) in length, with greyed-purple filaments. Produces both pollen and seeds. Sheath is complete, and reddish-purple in color. Plants carry green foliage with an upright habit. Selected in conjunction with Martin Lemon; from a group of seedlings grown from seeds of plants obtained from the Heze Peony Company, China. Named with reference to the dark color reminiscent of the skirts of Hungarian dancers, and “Trojan” being a reference to the district where the Prague Botanical Garden is located.
