Back to RegistryParentage unknown. First bloomed 2007, first propagated 2010. Previously distributed as (Trojan) S9. SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are reddish-purple, 25cm (9.8”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are flat, and typically 8cm (3.15”) in width. Fragrant; a slight spicy aroma. On average, flowers possess five moderately-hairy carpels that are yellow-green, and carry reddish-purple stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are more than 2cm (0.75”) in length, with greyed-purple filaments. Produces both pollen and seeds. Sheath is complete, and reddish-purple in color. Growth habit is upright. Selected in conjunction with Martin Lemon; from a group of seedlings grown from seeds of plants obtained from the Heze Peony Company, China. Named with reference to the dark color, and “Trojan” being a reference to the district where the Prague Botanical Garden is located.
