Mid-late season blooming ANEMONE flowers are light lavender, 13 cm (5”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one to three per stem. Guard petals are rounded, and are typically 5 cm (2”) in width. Fragrant. On average, flowers carry four smooth, yellow-green carpels with reddish-purple stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are transformed; petalodes are a unique sort of apricot color. No fertility noted. Plants reach 80 cm (31.5”) at maturity, and carry finely-cut, green foliage. Growth habit is spreading, though mechanical support is not necessary. “Virmalised” is an Estonian name meaning Northern lights.
