Peony Registry

Parentage: ‘Old Faithful’ x ‘Lemon Chiffon’. First bloomed 2023, first propagated 2023. Early-midseason blooming DOUBLE flowers are red, 12-15 cm (4.7-6”) in diameter, upward facing, and average three to four per stem. Guard petals are flat, rounded, and average 5 cm (2”) in width. Fragrant. Three sparsely hairy carpels are green, and carry pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2 cm (0.5-0.75”) in length, with red filaments that transition to yellow at the tips. Fertile both ways. Plants reach 70 cm (27.5”) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, green foliage. Foliage at the time of emergence is a yellowish-green. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for the flower color; the textured red petals resemble the wedding gowns worn by Chinese brides when they get married.
