Seedling #5. Parentage: “Xiangyang Qihua” open pollinated. First bloomed 2012, first propagated 2014. Mid-late season blooming ANEMONE flowers are pink with light yellow petalodes, 11cm (4.33”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. No fragrance noted. Guard petals are rounded and notched, and average 10cm (4”) in width. On average, flowers present five sparsely hairy, light-yellow carpels with light-yellow stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are completely transformed into light-yellow petalodes, spatulate in shape. Light-yellow staminodal disk is well-developed and complete. Seed fertile. Plants reach 70cm (27.5”) at maturity, and carry narrow-cut, green foliage. Foliage color at time of emergence is light-green. Growth habit is upright, and mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for Yangzhou University (“Yang”), and with reference to a very soft, beautiful color, like rouge (“Yan”). “Xuhui” represents the rising sun in the east, shining brightly, symbolizing hope, and expressing people’s hope for the future.
