Seedling #10. Parentage: “Mo Yun” x “Tiegan Zi”. First bloomed 2012, first propagated 2014. Mid-late season blooming DOUBLE flowers are deep-pink, 11.25cm (4.43”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. No fragrance noted. Guard petals are rounded and notched, and average 3.81cm (1.5”) in width. On average, flowers present sparsely hairy, yellowish carpels with deep-pink, feathered stigmas. Stamens are between 1.25-2cm (0.5-0.75”); filaments are yellow with yellow tips and anthers. Deep pink staminodal disk is apparent with few projections. Fertile both ways. Plants reach 90cm (35.5”) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, green foliage. Foliage color at time of emergence is reddish-green. Growth habit is upright, and mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for Yangzhou University (“Yang”), and with reference to a series primarily utilized for garden viewing and landscaping (“Long”). “Yanzhuang” represents a woman dressed in gorgeous attire, with beautiful makeup on her face, walking elegantly and beautifully, reflecting the characteristics and charm of China.
