Jiang Nan Si Lu

Midseason blooming ANEMONE flowers are purple with white petal edges, are 12cm (4.7″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one to two per stem. No fragrance noted. Guard petals are twisted and notched, and average 6.3cm (2.5″) in width. Flowers possess three smooth, green carpels with white stigmas of normal anatomy. Petalodes are oblanceolate in shape, and display the same colors as petals of the outer rows. No fertility noted. Plants reach 75cm (29.5″) at maturity, and carry broadly cut, green foliage. Growth habit is upright, and mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for Jiang Nan, the region south of the Yangtze River where the cultivar has been grown with much success, along with the phrase ‘si lu’, which means that the central petals are filiform, and the flowers as a whole are as round and lovely as dewdrops.
