Early blooming DOUBLE flowers are yellow, 15cm (6”) in diameter, upward facing, and average one to two per stem. Interior petals occasionally exhibit red edges. Guard petals are frilled. Citrus fragrance. Flowers possess on average three very hairy, green carpels with red stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2cm (0.5-0.75”) in length. Fertile both ways. Plants reach 95cm (37.4”) at maturity, and carry broadly pointed, green foliage with undertones of purple. Foliage at time of emergence is red. Growth habit is upright, though the plant does benefit from mechanical support when flowers are fully open. Presents good potential as a cut-flower and is a fine garden subject. Named for Carthago (Carthage), ancient Roman city in northern Africa.
