Parentage Charlie’s White x Alice Harding (lactiflora)* Selected in 1959 by my father Carl G. Klehm. Out of the same “mold” as Cheddar Cheese, this beautiful flower shows a remarkable amount of Gold petalage and petioloids for a pure lactiflora, stiff strong stems and healthy foliage. Semi-bomb type flower. Registered by Roy G. Klehm. Seedling # 922N.

*Plant Patent 3684 (Document No. US PP04248 P, 1978-05-02) offers a discrepency in the parentage given for this cultivar:

My new variety of peony plant is a seedling of Charlies White (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 3,684) .times. Bowl of Cream (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 2,451) resulting from a cross made during the course of breeding efforts carried on by members of my family in our nursery at Arlington Heights, Ill., with the object of developing new peony varieties having strong, stiff, weather resistant stems and blooms of pleasing colors and color combinations.
