Créme Caramel
Back to RegistryReceived September 30, 2021. Advanced generation lutea hybrid. Parentage: ‘Peach Festival’ x ‘Autumn Harvest’. First bloomed 2009, first propagated 2014. Very early season bloom. SEMI-DOUBLE, 1 bloom per stem, 6 1/3 inches (16 cm) in size, 5-6 rows of petals. Flowers well displayed above the foliage, held up-facing and out-facing. Petals rounded, shallowly notched, somewhat creped, giving a delicate frilly effect. Outer petals pale apricot-peach, becoming darker towards the center. Red flares extend 30% of petals’ length, the edges blurred and bleeding outward as a spray of fine red dots, increasing the warm orange tone of the inner petals. Average of 5 carpels, pale green, smooth. Stigmas dark pink, edged white, normal anatomy. Pollen-bearing stamens, red at the base and cream towards the ends. Fertile both ways. Sheath is complete, dark purple. Typical Lutea Hybrid foliage with green broad pointed leaves. Spreading growth habit, height to 79 inches (200 cm). A vigorous bush on which blooms are well displayed. Named for the color, which suggests French vanilla pudding topped with soft caramel sauce.
