Parentage: ‘Hong Yang Fei’ x P. lutea. Seedling number YY2-16060. First bloomed 2019, first propagated 2020. Late blooming SINGLE flowers are yellow (RHS 4C) with blurred, red flares. Cupped and notched guard petals average 7cm (2.75”) in width. Flowers are 15cm (6”) in diameter, outward facing, and average one per stem. Fragrance noted. Two to five sparsely hairy, green carpels with light-yellow stigmas are present. Has pollen, no seeds noted. Stamens are greater than 2cm (0.75”) long, with orange-red filaments that transition to orange at the tips. Sheath is partial, and pale yellow. Plants reach 88cm (34.5”) at maturity, and carry broadly-cut, green foliage. Growth habit is spreading. When in bloom, the large-petalled flowers are like yellow butterflies dancing in the bushes – hence the name ‘Die Huang’.
