Frosted Beauty
Back to RegistrySeedling number BJ#10; SDXSG#5. Parentage: ‘Salmon Dream’ x ‘Sunny Girl’. First bloomed 2010, first propagated 2012. Previously distributed under the name ‘Frosted Beauty’. Early-midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are a vibrant pink color, are 15.25cm (6″) in diameter, and average three to four per stem. Guard petals are cupped and rounded, feature white blotched striations on the posterior, and average 6.4cm (2.5″) in width. Two rows of guard petals encompass a slightly smaller mass of central petals. No fragrance noted. Flowers possess on average three moderately hairy, pale yellow-green carpels, with bright-pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1-2cm (0.5-0.75″) long, with filaments yellow in color. Linear staminodes are also present, and are light-yellow grading to pale-pink in color. Fertile both ways. Plants reach 76cm (30″) at maturity, and carry broad-pointed, green foliage with purple margins. Foliage at the time of emergence is purple/green. Growth habit is spreading, and does benefit from mechanical support. Named for the light petal edges that create an almost “frosted” appearance.
