Seedling Number MD201905-02. Parentage ‘Feng Dan Bai’ x unnamed P. rockii hybrid seedling. First bloomed 2017, first propagated 2019. Early-midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are white, 16cm (6.3″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Burgundy flares are distinct, extending to 30% of petal length. Guard petals are flat and notched, and are typically 7cm (2.75”) in diameter. Fragrance noted. Flowers on average possess eight tomentose carpels that are a greenish-yellow, with pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are less than 1.2cm (0.5″) in length; filaments purplish-red in color at base, white near tips. Occasional staminodes are white in color, spatulate in shape. Fertile both ways. Sheath is partial, aubergine in color. Plants reach about 90cm (35.5″) at maturity, and carry broad-pointed yellow-green foliage. Growth habit is upright, with flowers well-displayed on stems. The cultivar name derives from the petal color and the flares – the flowers like clouds in the sky.
