SUFFRUTICOSA GROUP. Seedling # JPS4-ROCK. Parentage: unnamed Rockii seedling x unknown pollen. First bloomed 1999. First propagated 2004. SEMI-DOUBLE. Eight inch bloom, light pink, rounded petals, edges slightly notched. Pigment evenly streaked, radiating out from the centre as if laid on with a brush, giving a soft effect. Base of the petals are white, accenting the bright red flares (to 60% of petal’s length) and creating a flower of dramatic impact. Five to eight carpels, pale greenish yellow, with normal cream stigmata. Stamens, pollen and seeds, filaments pinkish cream. Partial sheath, pale yellowish green. Fragrant. One bud per stem. Height to 46 inches. Early mid-season bloom. Named for originator’s father.
