Back to RegistryParentage: ‘Zi Feng Yu’, open pollinated. First bloomed 2020, first propagated 2021. Midseason blooming DOUBLE flowers are deep pink fading to light pink / white at petal edges. Flowers are 16cm (6.2″) in diameter, downward facing, and average one to two per stem. No fragrance noted. Guard petals are flat and ruffled, and average 5.3cm (2.08″) in width. Possesses three to five smooth, green carpels with light pink, feathered stigmas. Stamens are 1-2cm (0.5-0.75″); filaments are yellow with yellow tips and anthers. Produces pollen, but seed fertility has not been noted. Plants reach 62cm (24.5″) at maturity, and carry broadly cut, green foliage. Foliage color at time of emergence is green. Growth habit is spreading, and does benefit greatly from mechanical support. Named for Jiang Nan, the region south of the Yangtze River where the cultivar has been grown with much success, along with the phrase ‘chun yang’, meaning the flowers are as beautiful as the spring sun.
