Parentage: ‘Zi Feng Yu’, open pollinated. First bloomed 2020, first propagated 2021. Early-Midseason blooming JAPANESE flowers are pink, 12cm (4.75″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one to three per stem. Fragrance noted. Guard petals are flat and rounded, and average 4.7cm (1.85″) in width. Flowers possess three smooth, yellow-green carpels with pink, feathered stigmas. Staminodes are pink with white tips, and spatulate in form. No fertility noted. Plants reach 80cm (31.5″) at maturity, and carry broadly cut, green foliage. Foliage at the time of emergence is green. Growth habit is upright, and mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for Jiang Nan, the region south of the Yangtze River where the cultivar has been grown with much success, along with the phrase “si xu”, which means that the central petals are filiform, and the yellow color at the edge of the petals evokes the warm light shed by the sun.
