Late-season blooming SINGLE flowers are purple (RHS N74C), 11cm (4.3″) in diameter, and are upward facing. Fragrance noted. Guard petals are deeply notched, and average 3.5cm (1.4″) in width. Flowers possess three smooth, yellow-green carpels (150C) with pale green-yellow stigmas (2D) of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2cm (0.5-0.75″) in length, with filaments green-yellow (6C) in color. Fertile both ways. Plants reach 60cm (24″) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, dark-green, glossy foliage. Growth habit is upright, and mechanical support is unnecessary. The cultivar has been favored by breeders for its interspecific hybridization and scarcity of flower color. The name is taken from classical Chinese song lyrics.
