Parentage unknown. First bloom date unknown, first propagated 2022. Late-season blooming DOUBLE flowers are strong purplish-red (RHS 71C), 14-15cm (5.5-6″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are flat, ruffled, notched, and are typically 5cm (2″) in width. Fragrance noted. No carpels. Stamens are less than 1.25cm (0.5″) in length, with white filaments. No sheath. Pollen fertile. Plants reach 168cm (68″) at maturity, and carry broadly-cut, green foliage. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for the flower form; the tightly packed petals in the center resemble a spouting flame, higher than the outer petals, warmly welcoming spring, representing the strength and beginnings of the origin of life.
