Seedling Number: MP16-26A-AD. Parentage: ‘Velma Atkinson’ open pollinated. First bloomed 2017, first propagated 2020. Early-season blooming ANEMONE flowers are purple (RHS N81D), 16cm (6.3″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one to four per stem. Fragrance noted. Guard petals are rounded, and average 4-5cm (1.5-2″) in width. Flowers possess five sparsely hairy, violet carpels (N90B) with violet (85B) stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens fully transformed to petallodes – oblanceolate in shape, and greyed-orange in color (165D). No pollen; seed fertility noted. Plants reach 95cm (37.5″) at maturity, and carry finely-cut, green foliage. Growth habit is spreading, though mechanical support is unnecessary. Named on August 20th, 2019; “Mõisaproua” means “lady of the manor”, and is named in recognition of Marika Vartla, owner of Mädapea Manor, and founder of its peony collection garden. At Mädapea’s peony exhibition in 2020, ‘Mõisaproua’ took third place.
