Peony Registry

Seedling number 4-11-1. Parentage not given. First bloomed 2013, first propagated 2015. Early blooming SEMI-DOUBLE red flowers with ruffled, frilled petals, open dark red and fade to red. Flowers are 17cm (6.7”) in diameter, outward facing, and average one per stem. No side buds are present. Bud size is 4-5cm (1.6-2”). No fragrance noted. Three moderately hairy, green carpels with pink stigmas are present. Has pollen, and produces seeds. Plants reach 75cm (29.5”) at maturity, and carry broadly pointed, green foliage with undertones of purple. Growth habit is upright, vigorous, and does not require mechanical support. Named for Roman Emperor Nero.
