Back to RegistrySeedling Number 1731. Parentage “Bai Yuan Hong Xia” x ‘Kokamon’. First bloomed 2017, first propagated 2020. Early-midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are a deep-purple aubergine, 16cm (6.3″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Dark-red flares with bleeding edges emerge from the center of the flower, and extend to about 30% of total petal length. Guard petals are flat, frilled, notched, and twisted, and are typically 8cm (3.14”) in diameter. Fragrance noted. Flowers on average possess nine very hairy carpels that are a greenish-yellow, with amaranth colored stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.2cm and 2cm (0.5”-0.75″) in length; filaments purple. Fertile both ways. Sheath is partial, purple in color. Plants reach about 100cm (39.5″) at maturity, and carry broad-pointed yellow-green foliage. Growth habit is upright – a large amount of well-positioned flowers carried on strong stems. Named for the noble and mysterious flowers, like dark purple clouds in the twilight.
