Flower opens dark orange-yellow, fades to light yellow as it matures. One flower per stem, size 4 inches (10.4 cm) with up-facing display. Guard petals are notched, 1¼ inches (3 cm) in width. Inner petals somewhat ruffled and twisting. Sparsely pigmented red flares extend about 30% of petal length. Many of the stamens transformed. Carpels, average of 4, light yellow green (RHS:2C) and very sparsely hairy. Stigmas pink (RHS:48C), receptive surfaces edged greenish white. Pollen-bearing stamens. Filaments mostly purplish red (RHS:58B), becoming light yellow just below the anthers (RHS:20A). Fragrant. No seeds. Sheath absent. Early foliage green. Upright growth, height to 20 inches (50 cm), support not needed. Drought and cold resistance when established.
