Parentage unknown. First bloom date unknown, first propagated 2022. Late-season blooming DOUBLE flowers are red-purple (RHS 70D), 14cm (5.5″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Purple (N79A) flares with blurred edges emerge from flower centers and transcend approximately 33% of total petal length. Guard petals are flat, notched, and are typically 5.3cm (2.1″) in width. Fragrance noted. Flowers possess on average five moderately hairy, yellow (2C) carpels with yellow (10A) stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2cm (0.5-0.75″) in length, with filaments yellow in color (4D). Sheath is partial, and yellow in color (10A). Produces pollen, though seed fertility has not been noted. Plants reach 160cm (63″) at maturity, and carry broadly-cut, green foliage. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. Name derived from the Qing Dynasty poet Gu Taiqing’s “Nan Xiangzi – Wing Rui Xiang”: “Fine stamens embellished one after another, light powder and light grease is the most attractive. The peony is so fresh that it does not want to compete with other peonies for colorfulness and freshness.”
