Parentage unknown. First bloomed 2009, first propagated 2009. Midseason bloom. SINGLE form flower. Strong purplish pink flowers are borne 1 to a stem, out-facing; size 5½-7 inches (14-18 cm). Dark black-red flares extend 25-35% of petals’ length. Sheath complete, deep purplish pink in color. Five carpels on average, slightly tomentose, pale green and topped with deep purplish pink stigmas. Pollen bearing stamens have filaments dark red at the base and fading to white at the tips. Forms seeds. Fragrance. Young leaves are red and retain a red wash to flowering. Plant height to 68 inches (173 cm) with narrow upright growth. Mature plants are covered with blossoms which seem to be flying, thus inspiring the name from the poetry of Han Hong (Tang Dynasty) “there are many flowers dancing in the Chang’an city.”
