Petals are on the mauve side of pink with the guards and the center being the same color. Flowers are 5 inches (12.5 cm) in size and on average there is only one per stem. Stamens necessarily absent in this flower form. Carpels generally 3 in number, yellow-green in color, and smooth. Stigmas are red, with normal form, and fertile. Strong pleasant fragrance. Early foliage green, matures green with broad-pointed leaflets. Height to 36 inches (90 cm). Strong stems with upright growth habit spreading to 28 inches (70 cm) without mechanical support. The lofty crown and the sweet fragrance suggested the name ‘Sweet Queen’ in remembrance of an imperial concubine of ancient China who was famous for her special fragrance.
