Back to RegistrySeedling Number: NB-SH120. Parentage: ‘G’Day Mate’ x ‘Autumn Harvest’. First bloomed 2009, first propagated 2014. Midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE to DOUBLE flowers are yellow with shades of pink and some red-picotee. Maroon flares with blurred edges emanate from the flower center, and span approximately 15% of total petal length. Flowers are 14cm (5.5″) in diameter, outward facing, and average three per stem. Guard petals are rounded, ruffled, frilled, notched, and are typically 5cm (2″) in diameter. Fragrance noted. Flowers possess an average of four light-green, sparsely hairy carpels with light-pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.5-2cm (0.5-0.75″) in length; filaments are maroon in color. Fertile both ways. Sheath is complete, and maroon-red in color. Plants reach about 102cm (40″) at maturity, and carry finely-cut, pointed foliage that is blue-green in color with shades of red at margins early in the growing season. An improvement on many yellow lutea hybrid cultivars and has demonstrated more widely compatible fertility than most. Named for its stellar plant habits and flowers which open as if it were an unfolding universe of interest.
