Xiang Yun Sha {Sweet Silk}
Back to RegistryParentage: ‘May Lilac’ x ‘Roy Pehrson’s Best Yellow’. First bloomed 2021, first propagated 2022. Early blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are primarily white, overlaid in a pale-pink champagne color, 14cm (5.5″) in diameter, are outward facing, and average one per stem. Pleasant fragrance noted. Guard petals are flat, rounded, frilled, and notched, and average 5.5cm (2.16″) in width. Flowers possess three smooth, light-green carpels, with pink stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens are between 1.25-2cm (0.5-0.75″) in length, with filaments light-yellow in color. Fertile both ways. Plants reach 65cm (25.5″) at maturity, and carry narrow-pointed, green foliage, slightly curled at margins. Growth habit is upright, and mechanical support is unnecessary. With thick and erect stems, the cultivar is suitable for cutting or yard cultivation. The flower color is quietly elegant, and the edges of the petals are transparent and unique. The plant has a light and graceful posture, so it is called Xiang Yun Sha, or “sweet silk”.
