Seedling Number: Yanwo-Seedlings-2023-04. Parentage unknown. First bloomed 2020, first propagated 2023. Early-midseason blooming SEMI-DOUBLE flowers are light rose-pink, 15cm (6″) in diameter, upward facing, and average two per stem. Fragrance noted. Guard petals are rounded, notched, and average 5.2cm (2″) in width. Flowers possess seven sparsely hairy, yellow-green carpels with light-yellow, feathered stigmas. Stamens are between 1.25-2cm (0.5-0.75″) in length; yellow in color. Spatulate staminodes are also present, with identical coloration to that of other petals. Produces pollen, however seed fertility has not been noted. Plants reach 95cm (37.4″) at maturity, and carry broad-pointed green foliage. Foliage color at time of emergence is green. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. Although the flower form and color are similar to the traditional Chinese cultivar ‘Qin Wen’, ‘Yu Lan’ is more compact, with straight stems that need no support. It is quite suitable for cutting.
