Late-season blooming DOUBLE flowers are “greyed-yellow” (RHS 160D), 10.5-13.5cm (4-5″) in diameter, upward facing, and average one per stem. Guard petals are flat, notched, and are typically 4.5cm (2″) in width. Fragrance noted. Flowers possess on average six moderately hairy, pale-yellow (11C) carpels with yellow (4A) stigmas of normal anatomy. Stamens entirely transformed to petalodes, oblanceolate in shape, and identical in color to outer petallage. Sheath is complete, and pale-yellow in color (11C). No pollen, and seed fertility has not been noted. Plants reach 204cm (80″) at maturity, and carry broadly-cut, green foliage. Growth habit is upright; mechanical support is unnecessary. When this flower is in bud, it looks like a magnolia flower with a light halo and clear dew; when in full bloom, it is in the shape of a torus, with a fragrance comparable to osmanthus and a delicate color that surpasses osmanthus.
